April 2005

24th April 2005 Emma Sheers is honored by the Irish Water Ski federation at Golden Falls Waterski Club. Nine years ago Emma set a World Jump Record of 48.6m at the Paddy Classic in 1996.

The Club unveiled a specially commissioned granite memorial to mark the occasion and the details of her record.

22nd April 2005 The Pros head for McCormicks today for the International Cup. 3 event competition and the entries include Freddy Krueger, Scot Ellis and Chris Parrish.

12th April 2005 Jacks Spring Splash from Sunset Lakes. A Ross weekend with the biggest score this year in mens slalom with Drew scoring 3.00 @ 10.25m. Doug in second place with 2.00 @ 10.25m and Marcus Brown continuing his good form to score the same.

Aurelien Serrault put up the best jump distance in a reduced field with 63.5m (208ft), in the ladies event the trophy went to Brenda Baldwin with 48.7m (160ft) from Brandi Hunt and Jacki Hunter.

In ladies slalom we saw some of the best scores for a long time with Karen Truelove scoring 3.00 @ 10.75m in all 3 rounds to win comfortably from Lori Krueger with a best of 4.00 @ 11.25m.

3rd April 2005 The Orlando Boat Show Classic.

Ladies slalom went to plan in the final with Karen Truelove just half a buoy ahead of Geraldine Jamin scoring 4.00 @ 12m (35off). Third place and rounding off a great weekend for Danyelle Bennett with 2.00 @ 12m.

Stunning performance from Brandi Hunt in the trick event with 6810 from Danyelle Bennett and event favorite Mandy Nightingale in third.

With the biggest entry, the mens slalom was a close run thing through all the rounds with 8 skiers tied in first place after the first round!

It was much easier to separate them in the final with Chris Parrish the only one to complete the 10.75m line length and go on to score a weekend best of 3.00 @ 10.25. Wade Cox (3.00 @ 10.75) and Jeff Rodgers were second and third separated by half a buoy.

The jump event suffered a bit over the weekend with conditions that were not ideal. However things improved for the final and Freddy Krueger was able to maintain his dominance to set 67.6m (222ft) with Jaret Llewellyn 67.1m second and Jason Seels 63.9m third.


2nd April 2005 The Orlando Boat Show Classic. Tricky conditions at the show kept the scores down. Ladies slalom sees Karen Truelove maintain her lead from Geraldine Jamin with only Sundays final left.

The mens slalom event once again found it difficult to split the skiers with the top 5 all scoring 3.00 @ 11.25m (38off).

After turning the jump ramp around the mens jump event finally got under way with the wind master Freddy Krueger managing to break 60m from Jaret Llewellyn in second.


1st April 2005 The Orlando Boat Show Classic. Freddy Krueger with a best jump of 67.7m (222ft) leads the pro jumpers after the first round. Jaret Llewellyn 66.0m second from Jaret Llewellyn 62.2m in third.

On Saturday they do the same thing over again fighting for a place in Sundays final.


1st April 2005 The Orlando Boat Show Classic. With only 4 buoys to negotiate, this was always going to be close! Not this close. All 8 qualifiers for the semi finals tomorrow scored 2.00 @ 10.25m (41off). Ladies trick event saw Mandy Nightingale lead with 7070 from Brandi Hunt and Danyelle Bennett.

1st April 2005 The Orlando Boat Show Classic. Ladies slalom prelims completed with Karen Truelove leading with 4.00 @ 11.25m (38off), second and third are Geraldine Jamin and Danyelle Bennett with 3 and 2 @ 11.25m.
