22nd July 2002 Malibu Open Water Ski & Wakeboard Championship from Rio Linda, California this weekend. World records broken by everybody as the tow boat was a Malibu! Jesper Cassoe of Denmark was the first to go over 70 meters on Saturday with 232 feet (70.7m), just missing the world record but setting a new Europen record.

Freddy Krueger then went out in the finals and leaped straight into the record books with a jump of 233 feet (71.0m). The ladies jump was also full of the same excitement with Emma Sheers setting a new record and then next out Elena Milakova improved on Emmas Jump with another new record of 186 feet (56.6m)

Karen Truelove and Andy Mapple were the winners in the slalom finals.

13th July 2002 McCormicks Summer Classic always seems to produce top quality results, this time with no exceptions. Overall performances of note from Regina Jaques and Javio Julio. Regina with 3@11.25m, 7780 in tricks and a best jump of49.6m (163 ft) Javio with 2@10.75m, 10,040 and a 58.5m jump. Best jump of the day came from Michael McCormick with 65.3 m (214 ft)

11th July 2002 John Battleday Water Ski (Thorpe Park, London, England) have teamed up with Playstation Skatepark to bring you an action packed day of Wakeboarding and Skateboarding on Saturday 20th July 2002. Click Here for full details and poster.

8th July 2002 Some more great news for Ben Favret skiing at the SkiScape Summer Record in Covington. In Saturdays event Ben scored 1 @ 9.75m (43 off) equalling the World Slalom Record set initially 5 years ago by Jeff Rodgers in Charleston, USA in August 1997. This was later equalled by Andy Mapple a year later in Miami.

7th July 2002 French Masters Finals.

Canadian water skier Drew Ross set an early pace with a score of 5.5 buoys on the 10.75 metre rope length. Will Asher fell early on the 11.25m rope which left Glenn Campbell and the reigning European Slalom Champion, Jodi Fisher, to take up the challenge. Both repeated their scores of the previous day, just half of a buoy behind Ross to tie again for 2nd place.

On home water France's Geraldine Jamin proved a class apart in the women's slalom final winning by a margin of 4 buoys ahead of Americans Rhoni Barton and Nathalie Hamrick, who scored 3.00 and 2.50 buoys respectively on the 11.25m metre line.

Fresh from a new European Jump Record of 67.8 metres the previous weekend Jason Seels, the reigning European Jump Champion, qualified for the final in first place and was set a target of 67.2 metres (220 feet) by Scot Ellis. Seels again produced a consistent set of jumps, recording a longest distance of 66.6 metres to clinch 2nd place in the Overall competition and third place in the Jump event just behind Jesper Cassoe's (DEN) 66.8 metres.

Elena Milakova took the women's jump title with a distance of 49.9 metres and with that also tied up the Overall competition ahead of American Rhoni Barton.

6th July 2002 The French Masters from Lacanau. With no Mapple and Krueger the event is wide open this weekend. Leaders going into the Slalom finals on Sunday are Steve Cockeram 1 @ 10.25m (41 off) and Nathalie Hamrick 2.5 @ 11.25m (38 off).

In the jump event its Jason Seels with 65.7 m (216 ft) and Elena Milakova with 52.7m


4th July 2002 International Portuguese Championships at Ski Clube do Alentejo this week end along with the first of the major events in Europe, The French Masters from Lacanau. Lacanau web site.

4th July 2002 Got some more results in now, first just a couple of details from the Sky View Record at the week end.
On form Chris Parrish scoring 1.5 and 3.25 on the 10.25m line (41 off) and 2 @ 10.75 (39.5 off) for Kristi Overton-Johnson.

1st July 2002 Been a bit difficult getting results from the China Jump event at Jilin City, but we do know that the event was won by Freddy Krueger with Curtis Sheers in second place.
Jump distances were low with no one going further than 200 ft. Will have full details soon.
