2004 Princes Open - Pro Am - Saturday
The weather started off quite well, nice, flat, sunny and warm conditions. Papakiryos Evangelos from Greece set the scene with 3 buoys @ 12m. Next out Michael Kjellander cleared his 12m pass and was then interrupted by swan and cygnet deciding to take a gentle stroll right down the middle of the course.
After the swans had given up being a nuisance, Michael then went on to score 4 buoys @ 10.75m, setting a good score for the following pro's to better.

The next person to clear 11.25m was Matteo Ianni, who also scored 4 @ 10.75m. Followed 2 skiers later by his cousin Fabio who scored 3.5 @ 10.75m. Fabio fell quite badly on the wakes, injuring his ear.
Hopefully, he will be ok to ski in the rest of the competition. A couple of surprises followed with Wade Cox only scoring 0.5 @ 11.25m and Drew Ross scoring 2.5 @ 12m.
The next four skiers out, all made it through their 11.25m pass. Jodi Fisher scoring 3.5 @ 10.75m, Steve Cockeram 3 @ 10.75m, Chris Rossi 4 @ 10.75m and Glenn Campbell 0.5 @ 10.75m.

The final 3 skiers provided the most for the spectators. Will Asher being the first to clear 10.75m, unfortunately, he didn't get a good start and skied inside 1 on 10.25m.
Next was Andy Mapple skiing at one of his last competitions before retiring. Andy skied a very nice 10.75m pass and then rounded buoy 2 @ 10.25m, deciding to play safe and ski to the wake with slack line before dropping the handle scoring 2 @ 10.25m.

Last out was Chris Parrish. Chris was the only skier deciding to go out at 14.25m, the wind had picked up very slightly by then and by doing this he would have a head wind for his 10.75m pass.
(Either that or because he had been suffering from food poisoning and wanted a couple of easy passes to start with!).
Chris's 10.75m was very easy and smooth, when he came back at 10.25m, we all thought he was going to run it, but he was a little late at 4 and just decided to ski safely back to the wakes, scoring 4 @ 10.25m.
A very exciting first round meaning that the skiers, who haven't already done so, need to score at least 3 @ 10.75m in todays second round or tomorrows third round to have a chance of being in the Head-to-Head final tomorrow.
