MasterCraft Tows World Record Trifecta

Vonore, TN - Jimmy Siemers recently jumped 236 feet (71.9 meters) at the US Open Water Ski Championships in Houston, Texas, to set a pending national record and world record in the men's open ski jump.

The International Water Ski Federation (IWSF) officially ratified the record this week, making Siemers the official world record holder and MasterCraft the official world record towboat.

MasterCraft previously towed world records in slalom and tricks, and only needed the jump record to complete a three-event skiing "Trifecta". "This completes the ProStar's design mission," said John Dorton, MasterCraft president and CEO.

"Both the 190 and the 197 have always been about world record skiing performance. Even after 36 years, the MasterCraft ProStar is still at the pinnacle of the sport."

Both Siemers and MasterCraft teammate, Freddy Krueger, each set pending national jump records behind a MasterCraft during the preliminary rounds of the US Open.

Siemers then bettered both the national and the world record marks in the semifinals, sailing 1 foot farther than Jaret Llewellyn's previous world record of 235 feet.

"I know I can go farther," said Siemers. "There's more left in me and more left in the boat. It had power to spare." Siemer's and Krueger's jumps were not the only impressive performances at the Open.

Every semi-finalist towed by MasterCraft at the US Open jumped at least 225 feet, which is the longest semi-final score needed to make a final at any professional ski jump event in history.

The world record and all other performances were towed behind a MasterCraft ProStar 197 with a Vortec LQ9 HO 6000, marinized by Indmar, and MasterCraft's patented PowerSlot transmission.

The slalom world record is held by Andy Mapple, Jeff Rodgers and Jamie Beauchesne. Each of the athletes has skied 1 buoy at 43-off. MasterCraft towed Beauchesne's record in July at Trophy Lakes in Charleston, South Carolina.

Nicholas LeForestier set the trick world record behind a MasterCraft in 2001.

LeForestier broke his own world record behind a MasterCraft again in July. That record is pending approval by the IWSF.

If LeForestier's 12,320-point record is approved, MasterCraft will have towed all 3 current world records in 2 months!

"There's a reason we put 'World Record Towboats' on the back of every MasterCraft," said Rob May, director of marketing. "The really amazing thing about these boats is that consumers can own the same boat that's setting these incredible marks."

In addition to towing world record performances in three-event water skiing, the MasterCraft ProStar 190 and the ProStar 197 are the only boats in history to be certified by the American Water Ski Association (AWSA) in all 5 competitive water ski events (slalom, trick, jump, barefoot & ski-flying) with a single engine - the MasterCraft Vortec LQ9 HO 6000.
