21 and Under World Waterski Championships 2003 - Chile - Friday
The weather was sunny and warm again today after the cooler/cloudy blip of yesterday. The mens trick preliminaries were delayed due
to the arrival, by helicopter, of Prince Albert of Monaco.

He landed, had a brief tour of the site, watched a few tricks and then
flew out again!

When they got started, the mens trick prelims went quite smoothly, but with a few upsets. Will Asher (GBR) fell halfway through both
of his runs and failed to make the final, as did Sam Haslam (GBR) who fell early on his second pass. Chris Sumner (GBR) fell halfway
through his toe pass, but still managed a reasonable score with a good hand run, qualifying sixth for the final.

Jimmy Siemers (USA)
put in an expected good performance and qualified first with 10200 points. Joffrey Malaquin (FRA) skied 2 lovely passes, including
a front to front back flip with full twist, scoring 8540 and qualifying second. All round some very good tricking.

The afternoon event was the ladies jump prelims. This saw some very good jumping, with Regina Jaquess (USA) qualifying first with
47.7m and Clementine Lucine (FRA) qualifying second with 42.2m. Whitney McClintock (CAN), who is only just 14 years old, just missed
qualifying for the final with 38.3m. Megan Ross (NZL), out last, jumped a PB of 46m qualifying third for the final and also getting
a place in the overall final, along with Regina Jaquess, Clementine Lucine and Tarah Benzl (USA).

Tomorrows event are mens jump prelims, ladies and mens slalom finals and ladies and mens trick finals. If there is a slight headwind
on the ramp as there was today, we can expect some good distances.
