Sesena's International Slalom 2006
Once again the premier site in Spain provides the setting for new records and loads of personal bests. So many of the 40 plus skiers over three rounds produced a personal best or came within a few buoys of it.
Ricardo Botas and his family have spent the last few years developing the Sesena Training Centre near Toledo into what will be on completion, the best ski site in the world! They have transformed the lake into two perfect arenas with co-operation from companies extracting the gravel and sand.
As you can see from the photo below, the site is far from complete. The high banks protect the water from the wind and the lovely Spanish sun gave the competitors the perfect setting to perform.
On the ladies side, both Cristina and Nadine Botas scored buoys on the 11.25m line. Under 21 skier Nicole Arthur from Scotland proved she is more than deserving of a place among the elite pro ranks with a score of 1.00 @ 10.75m.
Young Billy Turp grabbed himself a British record with 2.00 @ 13.00m in the under 12 group.
The pro battle was left to 40 year old Clint Stadlbaur and Ivan Morros. Clint set the early pace on Saturday with an amazing 1.00 @ 10.25. Clint was unable to improve on this in the final round which allowed Ivan to take the top spot scoring 1.50 @ 10.25m
