JAMIE BEAUCHESNE TIES WORLD RECORD AND WINS U.S. TEAM TRIALS
Tigé 20ci Prepares Pro-Slalom Skier for His Peak Performance
ABILENE, TEXAS-July 11, 2003- Pro-slalom skier and teamtigé member Jamie Beauchesne tied the World Slalom Record July 5, 2003 with 1 at 43 off at the Charleston Forth of July Record Trophy Lakes Tournament in South Carolina two weeks after beginning training behind his new 2003 Tigé 20ci. He is the third person in the history of slalom skiing to run this pass.
Two days prior, Beauchesne beat his personal best by half a buoy with a 4 at 41 off Wednesday, July 2, at the U.S. Team Trials in Okahumpka, Fla. He placed first overall in the slalom event, winning two of his three rounds, and was selected as an alternate for U.S. Elite Water Ski Team.
"It was a very big step to tie the world record," said Beauchesne. "I believe I can break it, but I have to take things one step at a time and continue to work at it. I feel proud to be represented by Tigé, and it is obvious that these boats are built to help skiers perform at a world class level. Just look at the tournament results I am getting since switching to the 20ci as my personal boat."
During the U.S. Team Trials, Beauchesne placed first with a 4 at 41 off in the first round, tied in the second round with a 2:41 and placed second in the third round with a 3 at 41 off.
Beauchesne has a closed bow slalom Tigé 20ci. It is equipped with the Tigé Adjustable Performance System (TAPS) and Tigé's ConvexV continuous rocker hull. As all other Tigé models, the 20ci is USA-Waterski certified.
Beauchesne attributes his personal success to a strict year-round work-out schedule.
"I work hard to stay strong during the winter by snow skiing, hiking and rock climbing," Beauchesne said. "For example, I will snow ski 118 days, and of those 118 days I will hike uphill 70 of those days. The high elevation and cold weather provide extreme physical and mental conditions which in turn improves my physical and mental capacity all year long."
