10th September 2001
A bit of a quiet period in water skiing over the next week as everybody prepares for the World
Championships over the week 25th - 30th September at Recetto in Italy.
No launch of the official
web site yet. We offered our services at Planetwaterski to run the event web site with our event
chat room and real time reports and results providing live coverage, but were told that the Italian
Federations contract would not allow us to run this service. Never mind, lets hope its better than
last time.
So we will not be operating live from Italy, but will still bring you the best
coverage possible. We will be bringing you daily reports from the site.
5th September 2001
Patrice Martin, the greatest water skier of all time has retired, he will not be at Recetto to defend his
World Title. This information was confirmed by Patrice today. Many of you will remember Patrice nearly
30 years ago as the little French boy who took international trick skiing by storm who then went on to
dominate overall skiing. Over the next few days we will start a tribute to this amazing man.

2nd September 2001
Austrian Masters from Lendorf.
Toni Neville wins the ladies slalom with 2 @ 11.25m (38 off) in a close final just beating Britta Grebe
Llewellyn and Irene Reinstaller.
Glenn Campbell continues his outstanding current form scoring 3 @ 10.25m (41 off) in both rounds doing
just enough to beat off Steve Cockerham with 2.5 @ 10.25 and Fabrizio Ciapponi. Glenns recent
qualification to the world championships and his recent performances must put him as one of the
favourites to become the new world champion.
Fresh from the Rocketman ski flying, Lendorf saw the
best jumping any where in the world this year. A first round jump of 68.4m (224 ft) saw Jaret
Llewellyn qualify for the finals in top position.
Consistant Freddy Kruger put in 67.3m in the first round and then 67.4m in the final to take the
jump title.
0.5 @ 10.25m, 9270 in tricks and a 63.5m jump combined to give Jason Seels the overall title by my
calculation this is a new British overall record which will only boost Jasons confidence of an overall
medal at Recetto. Click the banner below for all the results.

2nd September 2001
